Why a boat? Faith Armstrong-Foster’s relationship with wine began in the tasting room at Ironstone Vineyards. A few years in marketing and event promotion for wine events in and around San Francisco developed a desire to be closer to the vineyard, and a full Regents Scholarship to UC Davis culminating in a degree in Viticulture and Enology soon followed.
Onward Wines began while Faith was working at Frank Family Vineyards, beginning as a lab technician and leaving her post as assistant winemaker in 2011. With initial focus towards expressions of Pinot Noir the scope presently includes unique voices of Malvasia Bianca and single vineyard Carignane in the discussion. Authentic representations of origin define the wines that pass through Faith.
Raised on a small island in rural British Columbia, Onward was the name of the family’s primary vehicle, a boat. Although landlocked in Napa, each wine references its port on the bow of Onward, as Onward does for Faith.
